For Immediate release:
Kaufman County depends on Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) for information about COVID-19 cases. Large metro counties like Dallas and Tarrant have free-standing county health departments that provide statistics and data. Kaufman County, like most counties, relies on the DSHS to serve as County Health Department.
DSHS is steadily improving the way information is delivered to the public. Their website is: https://dshs.texas.gov/coronavirus/
Kaufman County expects to issue daily reports between 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm each workday. These reports, taken from DSHS will provide the following information as reported.
Number of confirmed cases by area
Number of fatalities by area
Age group of cases in the county
Gender of cases in the county
According to County Judge Hal Richards “We understand that people are justifiably worried about this outbreak. Everyone should know that Dr. Brashear, County Health Officer, and Steve Howie, County Emergency Management Coordinator are working hard to provide the resources and information needed to keep us safe. The State of Texas designates County Judges as the County’s Emergency Manager. I take this role seriously and I am always available to respond to situations as they arise. “
